The shopping headache starts now
November 29, 2016
Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come and gone, and I’m still none the wiser as to what to get certain people in my family for Christmas!
There used to be the standard DVD or CD you could get for some of the children or the latest board game, but now everything has gone a bit more technological It’s taken a lot of choices away. Someone wants music, then they subscribe to Apple Music, Spotify or Amazon Prime Music, if they want movies then it is Netflix, Now TV, Amazon Prime or whatever else company is hosting video content. It just seems to me as thought a lot of things that we used to take for granted are now transitioning to an online-only format. Yes, it’s progress, I for one was sad to see the demise of the cassette tape and the household LP collection, but CD’s had better quality, were smaller and ‘digital’. I’m not sure if you get the same quality from a streaming format, but meh, I’m not an audiophile.
So here I am, stuck on what to buy. I thought that the Thanksgiving weekend Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales were going to give me inspiration, but apparently not. I sat there looking at the screen in dismay. Yes there were some excellent gifts and if I had the money they were asking, then I surely would have bought them, but I don’t, so I can’t.
At least I have nearly another month, right? Something will crop up, and I’ll snatch it up like a dog with a bone.
For now, I’m just going to have to crack on with work, put a headache that is Christmas behind me and wait until the right moment to ask people what they would like.
I love and hate Christmas in equal measures…
